Table by former Beckmans students launched at Stockholm Furniture Fair

Beckmans product design, stockholm furniture fair

A year ago, Elsa Ericson Ekdahl and Anne Skoug Obel presented the Embla table in Beckman's booth at the Stockholm Furniture Fair. Now the table has been put into production and launched by Gärnäs at this year's fair.

From protoyp to production in one year

The table was developed in the course Beckmans Design Collaboration, which is given last year at the Formprogrammet and is a collaboration with some of Sweden's top furniture manufacturers. Elsa and Anne collaborated with Gärsnäs, who commissioned them to develop a relief surface/small table.

"After a long design process, during the project at Beckmans, we came up with a table that serves both as a podium and a break, with a surface that highlights and a surface that carries. Gärsnäs showed interest in continuing to work on the table already when we showed it at the fair last year. The fact that it went relatively quickly from prototype to launch was partly because the prototype was already very developed, and partly because we have worked hard to get Gärnsäs to take the table on to production. Large companies have many projects running at the same time and lying on is not a bad thing, but rather a sign that we as designers are confident in our product, they say.

In the tables that are now being sold by Gärsnäs, Elsa and Anne have made some changes in color and product design such as rounded legs and they are available in different types of wood and treatments and with a glass top in tinted glass.

You can see the table at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in stand C08:41.
