Minna Floss is strengthening the motion graphics program at Beckmans
With a background in both artistic and commercial animation projects, she aims to inspire students to find their own voice in animation.
“The best part about teaching at a school like Beckmans is that the students are so driven and have such high ambitions,” she says.
Animated Iron Maiden music video
Since graduating from the Illustration & Graphic Product design Konstfack in 2016, Minna Floss has worked with animation in a variety of contexts—from music videos to documentary films. Among other projects, she served as lead 2D animator for Iron Maiden’s music video “Stratego,” created the opening sequence for Cinema Queer 2024, and worked as an animator and art director on the documentary *Andra Stranden*. Want to make animation more accessible
In her teaching, she aims to make animation more accessible and encourage students to experiment.
– Animation as a craft can feel overwhelming and inaccessible at first. I try to downplay that and convey a more personal approach to animation. As long as you have a grasp of the basic principles, there really are no right or wrong answers. I want students to dare to experiment, find their own solutions and methods—and through that, develop a workflow that works for them.
When she’s not teaching, Minna is currently working on her own animated film, which she is writing, directing, and animating herself. The project has received support from the Swedish Film Institute and the Swedish Arts Council, among others.
