Work samples tips - fashion
"The most important thing when you sit with the work samples, I think, is to ask yourself what you get the most ideas out of, what develops you," he said. And don't think about what you think Beckmans wants, says Jade.
- I agree with you. But also to spit out all the ideas and try many different things. Then of course it is important to start on time and not do research for too long, but plan how much gunpowder you will put on what, says Robin.
From wood to textiles
Robin Stenberg is a trained carpenter but is now in his first year at the Fashion Program.
"I did a lot of remakes of clothes when I was younger so I've always had a lot of interest in creating with textiles as well," he said.
It was a base year at Tillskärarakademin before he applied to Beckmans last spring.
"When I did the work tests, I played a lot with a teacher at Tillskärarakademin, which was very nice. In this way, I got help to sift through all my material," says Robin.
Valuable to discuss ideas
Just being able to play with a teacher at a preparatory training is something that Jade Cropper Anér also greatly appreciated. She attended Beckman's Evening School fashion the year before she applied to the Fashion Program.
-I got very good tips at Kvällsskolan when I was going to apply for the bachelor's program. We had to look at other people's work samples and got guidance," says Jade.
Prior to that, she had attended a bachelor's degree in Fashion at Westminster but did not really enjoy the relatively large classes there.
"I wanted to go to Beckmans because the classes here are small, 12 students, which gives a different focus on each student," he said. So after a year at Westminster, I started at Kvällsskolan instead, says Jade who thinks it is a good way to try if Beckmans suits you as a school.
"But the focus at Kvällsskolan Mode is on developing the artistic in fashion so there is a lot of croquette and drawing, not so much technology as pattern construction and sewing.
