Collaborative project on antibiotic resistance visits UN in New York
September 24, 2024
A meeting between research and visual communication
-The project "Are We There Yet?" project, research and visual communication come together to convey the highly topical message that the threat of antibiotic resistance poses to our global health. The seriousness has given rise to a desire for experimentation, and the students, in close dialog with the researchers, have found different ways of presenting the research in ways that are relevant. The collaboration shows Sweden as a leader in new forms of research communication with students and researchers in dialog and collaboration. "The fact that the project has been so well received shows that what we do at the school is relevant and it is fantastic that we have had the opportunity to present the work in connection with the high-level meeting on the theme," says Sophia Wood, head of the visual communication program.
The exhibition has been shown in several locations in Sweden
The exhibition has previously been shown at Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm, Uppsala University, Kungl. Vetenskapsakademin, the British Embassy in Stockholm, and at Torsåkers gård, Axfoundation's experimental center. Now it lands at UNGA 79, the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, on September 25, 2024.

About the collaborative project Beckmans x Svenskt Tenn x Beijerinstitutet
Since 2017, Beckman College of Design has collaborated with Svenskt Tenn and the Beijer Institute at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in an annual interdisciplinary project where research meets visual communication. Students in the Visual Communication program 180 credits are challenged to interpret and interpret current research conducted by the Beijer Institute, which receives funding from the Kjell and Märta Beijer Foundation, owner of Svenskt Tenn, in artistic projects. The mission is thus twofold. Firstly, the students will provide new perspectives on the important research carried out by the Beijer Institute, and secondly, the project will communicate some of the research funded by the surplus generated by Svenskt Tenn's sales.
Thanks!
The presentation of "Are We There Yet" in NYC in connection with the UN High-Level Meeting in September 2024 is realized with a very generous support from the Beijer Foundation. Thanks also to Svenskt Tenn and all participating students and researchers!
