Newly graduated designers from Beckmans selected for Formex

Beckmans exam2018, Swedish, product design, fashion and visual communication

Four newly baked designers from Beckmans show off their graduation projects at the interior design fair Formex, which opens tomorrow.

Growing fixture for locally grown food directly in the kitchen

Maria Chifflet (Product design) received Stockholmsmässan's newly established innovation scholarship in June for her degree project Gro. The Gro cultivation luminaire unites product design and function to a modular cultivation system for urban indoor environments. It is best suited for small plants such as herbs and lettuce.

"Smart, nice and good. A design that is good from a climate and sustainability perspective, but also from a health and lifestyle point of view. Formex believes that Gro av Maria Chifflet will be appreciated by many in the market who want to locally grow their own food directly in the kitchen," stockholmsmässan wrote in its scholarship motivation.

Design Student Selected exhibition

In addition to Maria Chifflet, Jennie Adén (Product design), Amanda Borgfors Mészàros (Fashion) and Ella Masus (Visual Communication) selected for the Design Students Selected exhibition at the Interior Design Fair. All of them graduated from Beckmans last spring and are three of twelve students from Sweden's design programmes who have been selected to exhibit their degree projects. With the exhibition, Formex wants to create industry visibility for as yet unestablished designers, but also for visitors, press and buyers to meet and create relationships with newly graduated creators.

Jennie Adén shows the project "Down to Earth" where she created a collection of products that were all made from local raw materials from Värmland. Amanda Borgfors Mészàros shows the COLLECTION DNA where she explored her origins and identity based on a craft-based practice. In June, she was awarded the Bernadotte Art Award for her work. Finally, Ella Masus shows her project "Vredesafton", a magazine that is a documentation of female anger.
