Robin Söderholm receives NK Stockholm Young Talent Award by Beckmans
The award means that for just over a month he will have the opportunity to show off his graduation collection from Beckmans at NK in central Stockholm as well as exposure and visibility in NK's digital channels. In addition, a prize sum of SEK 10,000 will also be paid.
-Beckman's collaboration with NK goes back a long way with exhibitions, fashion shows and other types of events. Therefore, it is very fun that this tradition continues and is also taken a step forward through a newly established award for young, newly graduated creators," says Pär Engsheden, fashion designer and program manager for Fashion at Beckmans.
Creation for the Mello finale
Robin Söderholm graduated from the fashion program at Beckmans last year. In February, he participated in the talent incubator Designers' Nest Award at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Now he is up to date with a creation for the final of Melodifestivalen, which will be worn by the host and actor Shima Niavarani.
In his graduation collection from Beckmans, he explores gender-neutral fashion and asks if it is the forms themselves that are gender neutral or if it is the wearer that affects the feeling. Romantic pleating is combined with more stereotypical masculine references in colorful creations.
-The collection reflects daydreams of being someone else for a while and wearing extravagant and sensual clothes. To bring up the voluminous shapes, I worked a lot with tissue paper in my draping because it is easy to wrinkle and create volume with, which I then translated into plisses in the fabric, says Robin about working with the collection.
"A collection of contemporary relevance that challenges and radiates"
The NK Stockholm Young Talent Award by Beckmans was presented on March 10 at NK Stockholm The jury consisted of Pär Engsheden and Annika Berner from Beckmans and Henrik Lilja and Karin Wickberg from NK. This is what the jury wrote in its motivation:
"A graduation collection with contemporary relevance that challenges and radiates, skillfully executed both in whole and detail. By creating an expression of fragility and romance combined with masculine references, Robin Söderholm gives the wearer personal freedom to express himself beyond traditional frameworks. The collection makes us lift our eyes, change perspectives and fantasize about brighter times."
You can see the entire collection on NK Stockholm's pop-up area on the ground floor.
