Katarina Sjögren new lecturer at Beckman College of Design

Our field is constantly evolving. The central part of the teaching is to provide students with a foundation and deepening of their work in relevant contexts. To find methods to formulate yourself and thereby deepen the understanding of one's own work, she says.

Katarina Sjögren has a broad experience in the field of art and design and is currently working in parallel as a director at Belenius, a gallery focusing on contemporary art. She has previously run Crystal (a gallery for contemporary art and product design), published in book format, worked as a project manager at Tensta konsthall and been a head of department at Konstfack where she also taught. She is currently contracted as an art consultant for public art in Uppsala and is working on assignments in Gothenburg.

"The students I've met from Beckmans have always been full of energy and curiosity and it will be fun to be part of the process from students to professional designers. My future colleagues at Beckmans all have impressive practices and I look forward to working with them to give students the best possible conditions for a sustainable and long professional life.
