ClimateBet wants to turn people into experts on climate change
-When people bet on sports, they do research, they become experts. ClimateBet wants people to do the same with climate change. Instead of becoming experts on how high altitude affects football players, for example, ClimateBet will make us experts on what is causing global warming and how we can fight it," says Julius.
-"Betting on climate disasters may sound controversial, but ClimateBet is about shocking society with a message that we can't ignore. And by doing so, be part of the solution to global warming and environmental disasters. The more knowledge we have, the more we will be able to do for our planet.
Creative team Beckmans & Forsbergs
ClimateBet is a collaboration between Beckmans and Forsbergs that came about when Julius Tuvenvall met Viggo Lindberg and Josefin Inge from Forsbergs during their internships at the Åkestam Holst agency last year.
-Åkestam had an idea-shaping workshop where climate was the theme. The idea of betting on environmental disasters emerged during this workshop. The idea was very well received at the agency and we were to present it to one of Åkestam's clients. But unfortunately, the idea fell through and it never materialised. We continued working on the idea after the internship during the fall semester to submit to The Young Ones student competition.
Cancelled award ceremony
Due to the situation in the world right now with coronavirus and event cancellations, the team will receive the prize by post.
-A big part of winning The Young Ones is going to New York to accept the award. But unfortunately that didn't happen this year. This year we found out online and the prize will be sent sometime in October," says Julius.
