About the course The assignment in collaboration with Svenskt Tenn

In the second year of Product design , students explore glass design in collaboration with Svenskt Tenn. In the course, Svenskt Tenn is the potential client. The students' assignment: to create a product or product series on the theme "the set table". During a number of weeks, the students work with research, sketches and sketch models and then finish by having their design blown up in the Stockholm glassworks in Gustavsberg by a professional glassblower.

The course ends with an exhibition at Beckmans and this year's scholarship recipient is announced. The scholarship from Svenskt Tenn gives the student an additional 4 hours in the glass cabin to continue developing their product

Jury scholarship motivation Elin Åkerfelt

"We agreed that The Bellow glass, which has a wave at the bottom, is both elegant, has a simplicity and self-evident that feels new and fits perfectly into Svenskt Tenn. Billowing is a development of so-called standard glass in press glass but Elin, you have raised an everyday glass to a new level, a glass that can nevertheless be a piece of jewelry on a beautiful dinner tablecloth like a juice or milk glass on a breakfast table. We think that there is a development potential in Bölja, and that it could be available in different sizes."

Honorable mention of Fanny Johansson

"Finding inspiration and formidés in a completely different material and managing to transfer it to glass in an exciting and beautiful way, we think should be noticed.
Fannys Vas Knopp, has very nice movement and absolutely has the potential to become a beautiful and commercial vase but we think that the size needs to be worked through a little further to be both beautiful, good and practical."

Honourable mention Carl Folkesson

"The second honorary mention also goes to a vase where the inspiration comes from a completely different direction. Carl has taken the inspiration for his vase, Taberg both in Josef Frank's watercolours and in maps. We think that the vase has been given a very exciting and new expression where the reflections and reflections of the glass become incredibly beautiful in the "denser part" of the vase. We see that there is also a development potential in Taberg, but that the size and "neck" of the sketch need to be worked through a little further."
