Final nomination in stora Designpriset to Beckmanslektor

Beckmans Staff, Swedish, product design

Morgan Rudberg, designer and lecturer at the Design Program, is together with designer Lars Pettersson behind one of the five nominated final entries.

Minimalist design but technologically advanced

Together, they have designed the Sweep and Scoot lighting fixtures with a focus on light comfort and sustainability for the producer Fagerhult. The starting point was the activity-based office, a work environment that places high demands on lighting that must interact with technology. Based on research into the optimal working light – a combination of indirect and direct light, which not only illuminates the work surface but also creates so-called ambient light by illuminating walls and ceilings, Sweep and Scoot product design.

The minimalist design may fool the eye into thinking they are simple products. In fact, they are sustainable and technologically advanced with energy-efficient LED lighting adapted for an activity-based office, which can be controlled via phone or tablet.
