Graduation project competes in Tempo documentary festival
February 08, 2021
-When the film was shown at the graduation exhibition in August, I received positive feedback from the visitors, which I am very happy about. But I'm looking forward to showing the film on more surfaces, so it will be super fun to now show it to a larger audience and also get the chance to compete in the New Doc category, says Felix Scheynius.
The winner in the New Doc category will receive SEK 40,000 for their next film project.
A depiction of the pursuit of disqualification
Top of the Pyramid is an audio-visual guided meditation that explores the pursuit of conflict of life, a search for an ideal that sometimes echoes empty.
I've always been fascinated by people's search for meaning. We live in a society that is strongly characterized by a culture of development. Everyone wants to get to the top, and many choose to take that path by chasing material and social status. The pressure is increasing even when the internet and social media have led to the peak being constantly visible.
Collage technology creates story
In the film, the viewer is led to the top of a guided meditation, which is a popular tool in self-development. Visually, the film is primarily based on the collage technique "found footage", which in this case means documentary material from the internet.
-Found footage is a technique I've explored before but I wanted to immerse myself in. Technology interests me that you can put your storytelling in a larger context with very small means. At the same time, you never know what you're landing in, which is exciting," says Felix.
