Beckmanslektor gets prestigious Doga merket in Oslo
The book pays homage to the city's concrete-heavy post-war architecture and is a collaboration between the School of Architecture and Design in Oslo, João Doria and the publisher Torpedo. The authors are Erik Fenstad Langdalen, Andrea Pinochet and Léa-Catherine Szacka.
A book that gives a euphoric feeling according to the jury
"If you go on paper, you're probably a papyrophil, but when it comes to concrete, there's no such expression. It's a bit of a shame, because the jury would have liked a word for the almost euphoric feeling we get when we read in Concrete Oslo. Not only is it well executed, with respect for and love for the material, but it is also a very interesting and different documentation of a scolded era in Norwegian architecture that gives glory and dignity to the concrete as a material. The book's format – compact and monochrome – also gives associations to walls and concrete and thus provides a subtle experience of the theme of the book.
The book is made as a guidebook reflecting the author's desire for the book to be used, and there is reason to hope that it will find its rightful place in the bags of architecture students."
