Beckmansalumni invited to exhibit at Stockholm Furniture Fair
Unify selected for Greenhouse
Anne Harvala's degree project Unify is a stand series that works for different types of table tops. The series is designed for a public environment and works for everything from side tables, coffee tables, dining tables, standing tables and conference tables. For the elaborate project, she was awarded a scholarship for "Best Degree Project" by the teachers at the Form program. At the Stockholm Furniture Fair, she has developed the series further.
"I have changed an important measure that has made the different pillar stands more uniform, and partly developed the series with a pillar stand that mainly works for coffee tables with oval or rectangular table tops. In addition, I have developed a new prototype that will be shown at the fair," says Anne.
Today she runs her own design studio Design by Anne Harvala AB and after the fair begins her first design assignment as a freelance designer for a company. You can find her in Greenhouse, stand C19:28.
"New Designer of the Year" according to NC Furniture
Children with disabilities and their parents were the target group for Ella Westlund's thesis "Be a Part of"– a wooden sofa with a gap in the middle where children in wheelchairs get a chance to participate on equal terms, a project that was also rewarded with several scholarships. Together with NC Möbler, which specializes in wood furniture focused on healthcare, she has now further developed the sofa to make it fit in public environments. During the Stockholm Furniture Fair, NC Möbler presents her as "New Designer of the Year" in its stand A31:20 where the sofa is also exhibited as part of their range.
"If a lot of people like it at the fair, it's going to come into their range, which would be incredibly fun. With the help of NC, my sofa will be able to end up in places where it would be needed most, in hospitals, in waiting rooms, at airports and in public spaces. So if you like the sofa, come and tell the sellers in the booth! says Ella.
Ella has also started her own company that focuses on creating customized products for people with disabilities.
"I want to create products with them in mind and hopefully end up being surrounded by products other than the ones you find in hospitals," says Ella.
Form student exhibits in his own stand
Sizar Alexis is a second year student in the Design programme and has been accepted to Greenhouse where he will show the ItooRaba furniture series consisting of a lounge chair, stool, side table and coffee table.
"It's a furniture series that started with the itooRaba lounge chair in my first year at Beckmans and then developed into a series of geometric rebels," he said. The furniture is separately minimalist sculptures that challenge their surroundings with every edge, angle and line in their quest for geometric precision," says Sizar.
You can find him in stand C18:43.
