Beckmans x Designtorget 2019

Beckmans Product Design

Ahead of Stockholm Design Week, we present this year's collaboration between Formprogrammet at Beckman College of Design, the industrial design programme at Konstfack and Designtorget: a piece of Scandinavia that can be taken home with you.

From idea to finished product

The students' mission was to create a product that can serve as a gift from a visit to Sweden, in other words, it must not be too big and it should have a high design factor. In teams of two, the students have created a brand, developed a product that they produced in a series of 10 copies, and built a business plan around it.

"In the role of designers, we can work in many different ways, with many different assignments, product areas, target groups and tendencies in society. One way is to work with your own smaller production. The students train themselves in understanding materials, production methods and business contacts. Thanks to the students' ability to understand the present and to put product design Visually, they can quickly create objects that meet a public market," says Janne Loftén, course coordinator at the Design programme.

Products launched in Designtorget's regular range

This year is the fourth time that we have collaborated with Designtorget and several of the products developed in previous years have also become part of the store's regular range; The elvira tray, the pedestal Unit and the award-winning regrow plant position, which received the Design Award Formex Nova 2019.
