"Visual communication can be whatever we want it to be."
"We sat there in the classroom the first day, 16 new students at Beckmans, with completely different relationships to visual communication. A class where everyone's qualities complement each other. Some come directly from an agency and some have studied design or communication of some kind. Me and a few others came in without any prior knowledge. What we have in common is that we all use some visual tool, such as illustration, photo, animation, etc., to express ourselves creatively.
Then our amazing teacher, Jonas Johansson, entered the classroom and opened up a whole new world to us: Augmented Reality also called AR. Imagine a world between the reality we know today and the Virtual World = An augmented reality in other words."
"I couldn't have gotten off to a better start."
"In this first course at Beckmans, we were thrown into everything from creating personal logos, building furniture with the Form program to presenting our work samples to each other already the first week. Then we would code a website and create a VR world, observing that (almost) no one had gotten acquainted with code before. To then be part of Jonas Johansson's artwork down in Reaktorhallen at KTH during the VR_Sci + Art Fest 2020. All in the space of two (!) days through workshops with Jonas.
Jonas has really shown the depth of visual communication and that it can really be whatever we want it to be. A broad topic where we as students at Beckmans can make a difference locally but also around the world, through visual communication. Imagination sets the limits!
I would also like to take the opportunity to send a tribute to the class, VK23, a fantastic combination of unique individuals with competences in different fields. Look out for us, if you don't know who we are today, you'll know soon."
