Beckman's new recruits to the Visual Communication program
Broad international experience
With an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University School of Art, João Doria has taught at several design and art schools and participated in exhibitions in countries such as Brazil, France, Germany, Norway and the United States.
"We are very pleased to have João Doria as a new colleague. With his vast experience of living, studying, working and teaching internationally, he is a fantastic addition to Beckmans and the Visual Communication program. He is well versed in teaching issues, has been a guest teacher at a wide range of schools, among them also Beckmans, and also organized his own summer school(The Ventriloquist Summerschool) together with Kristina Ketola Bore, says Samira Bouabana, Program Manager for Visual Communication.
"João has a critical and positive perspective on the subject area and its opportunities to develop. His knowledge of international visual communication is great and will contribute to the programme's ambition to broaden students' perspectives on contemporary expression," continues Samira Bouabana.
Design with technology as a starting point
Jonas Johansson is educated at Linköping Institute of Technology and Hyper Island and has worked as a designer and developer in Tokyo, Montreal, London and Stockholm. In his own studio, he explores the meeting between man, machine and nature with light as a recurring medium. At Beckmans, Jonas teaches and supervises design with technology as a starting point — from digital adaptation of product design and product development to interactive installations.
"With Jonas Johansson as a lecturer at Visual Communication, the programme has increased the school's technical competence. Jonas' great enthusiasm for and knowledge of technical possibilities in visual communication is a huge asset for our students and their opportunities to develop contemporary expression in our subject area," says Samira Bouabana.
