Beckman College of Design x Design Square
April 27, 2023
The learning outcomes of the course include an understanding of all stages of production development, manufacturing, travel costs, materials, packaging and freight handling.
- Product designers work in a variety of interesting design fields. Many designers want to develop their own product ideas and want to have full control over all parts of the design process and further in the production stage to the end customer. It is of great benefit that students here gain a deeper understanding of how manufacturing companies work and how they think. It can also often be a matter of taking an active stance; they want to have control over production for ethical or environmental reasons, they do not want to make themselves dependent on the client. This year's second-year students show how good design can brighten up your everyday life, " says Jan Loftén, lecturer at the Design Program.
The exhibition will open with a vernissage at Designtorget's store on Götgatan 31 in Stockholm on April 27 at 17.00. The products will be launched exclusively for Designtorget in a limited edition and will be available on April 27 in Designtorget's store, as well as online at designtorget.se.
- We are incredibly proud of our collaboration with Beckman College of Design. We have been working together for many years and every year we come up with many creative and forward-looking products. Especially for this year, the students have had to adapt extra much to the world situation in terms of materials and production. The products that have emerged are incredibly good! Our hope is that the project, also this year, will lead to more long-term collaborations with the designers. Previous years' collections have resulted in products that have become part of Designtorget's permanent range, such as the award-winning product Regrow by Madeleine Nelson and the pot Örta by Emma Stridh and Robert Wettebrandt," says Malin Wåhlström, Purchasing Manager at Designtorget.
