Beckman College of Design links Professor Sara Danius to the education at the program for Fashion
In addition, she will give a series of open lectures on the theme of literature and fashion and participate in the fashion program's recurring Nobel Prize, where the annual Nobel Prizes are interpreted and portrayed in fashion creations.
Open lectures on literature and fashion this autumn
-"It was the school's chairman Lars Strannegård who launched the idea of inviting Sara Danius to Beckman College of Design, and we are of course very happy that she accepted our invitation," says Headmaster Karina Ericsson Wärn.
-"Sara Danius has a unique and deep knowledge of fashion that our students can now take part in. Her lectures that connect literature and the importance of fashion for the text of Proust, for example, we will also arrange as open lectures, which means that even interested people outside the school can come and listen, which feels fantastic. The fact that she then participates in the Nobel course, given her insights into prizes and awards, is extra fun," continues Karina Ericsson Wärn.
Nobel Prize in Literature through the Ages interpreted by fashion students
Pär Engsheden, Program Director for Fashion at Beckmans, has collaborated with Sara Danius, creating legendary dresses that she has worn on official occasions.
-This year, students on Beckman's Nobel course are interpreting the Nobel Prize in Literature through the ages. Now they have a teacher with unique expertise on this, can it be more customized than that? The school's collaboration with her goes back a long way, as Sara Danius has been a regular lecturer in the fashion department. To be able to welcome her back to Beckman College of Design at Brahegatan 10 feels fantastic," says Pär Engsheden.
