Acne bag in design by former Beckmans students

Beckmans alumni and fashion, Swedish, fashion and visual communication

Fredrika Frykstrand, Benedicte Eggesbo and Julia Correia de Verdier, all recently graduated from Beckmans, are behind the reinterpretations of Acne's iconic bag The Musubi Bag. Now they are on display at the classic department store Le Bon Marché in Paris.

Young creators highlighted in Acne Studios initiative

Under the slogan "Together is Better", Acne Studios wants to highlight young creators and asked alumni from Beckmans and Konstfack to create reinterpretations of The Musubi Bag. The interpretations would show the creators' artistic vision and innovation, but still have a clear connection to Acne Studio's aesthetics and DNA.

Fredrika Frykstrand, who graduated from the Visual Communication program in 2018, chose to work with typography and letters and created a pattern of acne studios logo. Benedicte Eggesbo instead focused on the leather she manipulated to create new shapes. In her interpretation, the bag's sheer design meets the rawness of burnt leather. Benedicte graduated from the Fashion Program in 2019. Julia Correia de Verdier's interpretation combines piercing with embroidery that draws inspiration from natural and country motifs in 18th-century illustrations. Julia graduated from the Fashion Program 2018.

Shown in pop-up at Le Bon Marché in Paris

Between February and April, the bags are displayed in acne studios pop-up shop at the department store Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche in Paris. The bags are also available for purchase in selected Acne stores as well as online.
