Sweden's Minister of Education wears dress designed by Beckmans students at Nobel Prize banquet

For this year's Nobel Banquet, Minister of Education and Integration Simona Mohamsson has chosen to wear a dress created by Beckmans students Mia Teräntö and Emil Hauberg Biering as part of the Nobel Creations 2024 project.

Today we celebrate Education Day. One thing is certain: all Nobel Prize winners began their careers in the classroom. I would like to extend a special thank you to Mia and Emil for allowing me to wear their beautiful dress for the evening. You are amazing! says Simona Mohamsson.

Completely handmade creation inspired by nerve cell connections and the complex structure of AI

The 2024 Physics Prize was awarded to John J. Hopfield and Geoffrey E. Hinton for their groundbreaking discoveries that enabled machine learning with artificial neural networks.

The dress is entirely handmade, and many hours have been spent on its craftsmanship. Mia and Emil based their design on the connections between nerve cells and the complex structures of AI technology—something that is expressed, among other things, in the intricate, twisted craftsmanship that runs from head to toe in the creation.
