In June, Jennie Adén received the Svenskt Tenn design scholarship for her degree project Down to Earth. Now she gets the chance to show the project in an exhibition in Svenskt Tenn's store on Strandvägen.

Products from scratch

The Down to Earth project shows an entire design process, from processing raw materials to designing and manufacturing products. The materials she has used are tick, slate, wool, wood and moose skin from Sölje, a remote area in western Värmland.

"By digging where I stand, I've created products that show what it might look like if we had to do everything from scratch, all by ourselves," says Jennie.

Boxes in the tick attracted especially high attention

She has received many positive reactions to the project, which was also recently shown at Formex in the exhibition "Design Students Selected".

"A lot of people think it's an interesting and important project. There are several, both private individuals and retailers, who are interested in the materials I made through ticking, so during the autumn I will produce more boxes," she says.

The exhibition will be shown 7 –23 September at Svenskt Tenn, Strandvägen 5.
