New exhibition about Göta Trägårdh – one of Beckman's founders

Sofia Hulting Swedish

Göta Trägårdh was one of the founders of Beckmans School and one of Sweden's foremost textile designers.

Influenced generations of young designers

At Beckmans she taught from the time the school opened in 1939 until the 1980s. She is said to have been a strict but appreciated teacher who was always well-dressed and had pink as her favorite color. Through her involvement in Beckmans, she has influenced generations of young designers and often handpicked students for the Swedish textile industry.

Cavalcade of patterns, fashion illustrations and textiles

The Design Archive in Nybro is now showing the exhibition Göta Trägårdh – fashion, patterns, meetings. Through fashion illustrations, pattern sketches and textiles, we get to know Göta Trägårdh and the circle of designers around her. The exhibition also includes a book written by Anna Häggblom Stålhammar in which colleagues and Beckmans students talk about Göta. The book also collects a rich visual material.
