Designer Pär Engsheden, head of the fashion program, receives NK's Honorary Award for his passionate commitment, not least when it comes to developing fashion education at Beckmans.

Couture course at Beckmans highlighted

NK's honorary prize is awarded to a person who is a role model who has made a difference and who influences the world in a positive, inclusive and sustainable direction. In its motivation, NK particularly highlights the couture course at Beckmans, where second-year students develop visionary concepts about the future of couture.

-"The prize is an honorable proof that I do something good, and it feels extra fun that it is largely about my efforts for Beckmans," says Pär Engsheden.

Jury's motivation

"This year's Honorary Laureate is one of Sweden's most respected fashion designers and head of the fashion program at Beckmans. He is behind the school's couture course where students are encouraged to work more sustainably in fashion and design production and as a designer he is constantly exploring boundaries in a brave, creative and curious way.

In the spirit of NK's founder Josef Sachs, this year's Honorary Laureate takes Sweden out into the world and the world to Sweden by inspiring, engaging and awakening thoughts, feelings and ideas with his passionate commitment. A commitment that is expressed both at beckmans and through his own spectacular creations - including Sara Danius' Nobel dresses exhibited at the National Museum in 2020 - as well as many of the Royal Family's most beautiful dresses over the past two decades."

The prize was awarded at the NK Gala 2024 earlier this week.
