Fashion camp during the sports holidays with Beckmans
February 24, 2020
We explore fashion and create together
During a week we explore different ways of using fabric and how different types of textile materials work. We learn about the anatomy and components of fashion. We visit Tensta's shops with fabrics from all over the world, and the slightly older participants get to visit the fashion program at Beckmans to see the studio at the school.
We investigate forms and expressions and create together in different techniques. We talk about trends and looks, but also about sustainability and fashion's climate impact. In addition, we are inspired by 2,800-year-old Assyrian costumes recreated by artist Michael Rakowitz in the art gallery's ongoing exhibition. In the exhibition, he has recreated ancient objects from a palace in Nimrud, present-day Iraq, using debris.
The course leader is the two former Beckmans students Sandra Saeidi and Fo Phan who both graduated from the Fashion Program 2019.
