Kulturhuset Stadsteatern through 12 digital guides

Beckmans Swedish, visual communication

12 exciting, paradoxical, tasty, autonomous, listening, adult-like, postmodernist, raw, neutral, collective, comprehensive (digital) guides to Kulturhuset Stadsteatern.

The final-year students at the Visual Communication programme have explored graphic design in the physical and digital public space in collaboration with Kulturhuset Stadsteater and the Forum/Debate department.

Past, present, future

The students have spent six weeks looking into the past, present and future of the building and its vision, conditions and architecture and created a series of lecture performances at the school, as well as an addition to the site in product design of a digital and in some cases spatial guide. The themes chosen by the students have ranged from the brutalism of the building translated into web design and technology, the accessibility and function of furniture translated into hard-to-access graphic and digital design, Augmented Reality objects, a digital guide to the Kulturhuset's 10-13 activities that are inaccessible to adults, and much more, says Peter Ström, lecturer in charge of the course at Beckman College of Design.

A couple of the digital guides can be seen at www.beckmans.wiki/kulturhuset
