Beckmans degree project receives GYF scholarship 2024
Handmade and playful books as a degree project
In the project, she created 15 unique sketchbooks that she designed, printed and bound herself.
I hand-cut all the pages, which are made from recycled paper. I printed the cover using risograph, a Japanese printing technique that is like a mix of copier and screen printing, where you print each color separately. I designed the cover, folded all the book covers, sewed all the books together and glued them. It was a time-consuming but fun job," she told Cap & Design magazine, which interviewed her.
-Print tells a more interesting story because it has limitations that digital does not. Many people working with digital media try to make it look analog and seek the feel of print. Print is everywhere and has a cemented place in society, but not everyone understands its value.

Every year, GYF, the Association for the Promotion of Graphic Arts Professions, awards a diploma thesis that has contributed to the development of the graphic arts industry.
The jury's motivation: With a creative idea, great commitment and high craftsmanship, she has created an innovative book concept that in a humorous and professional way includes several parts of the graphic craft, such as graphic product design, book production, stickers and bookbinding.
