"Design a drinking glass that is special but can be made in 15 minutes". Martin Sundqvist, a design student, accepted the challenge set by designer Piet Hein Eek and won.

A long-lasting glass with traces of fingerprints

-I wanted to make a glass that you want to hold for a long time. The straight cylinder has a more organic product design and traces of fingerprints have been left behind. The soft indentations make it equally comfortable to hold, whether you are right- or left-handed," says Martin Sundqvist, who is in his first year of the Design Program.

Competition for young designers

Together with glassblower Marc Barreda, internationally renowned Dutch designer Piet Hein Eek launched a competition in early September open to design students and recent design graduates. The prize - to have their glass produced in a limited edition of 50 pieces and sold in Piet Hein Eek's webshop, with royalties on sales to the winners.

In addition, the winners were given visibility during Dutch Design Week through an in-store exhibition and a live glass blowing event for visitors during the design week.
