Design brief "unfolding futurity"
The goal is to adapt to the brand and its target group with a given design brief and one's own style. The process involves courageously exploring one's own creativity in relation to external demands. This year's design brief is UNFOLDING FUTURITY, that can be interpreted both abstractly and concretely.
We need to read the zeitgeist of the time, to create for an unknown future. The collection should be characterized by a sense of style that unites product design with content, unfolding a visualized story.

About the course
Fashion Collaboration is a course which runs during the fall semester of the final year. The process is vocationally oriented and contains several sub-elements. The students will develop a new design concept based on an analysis of the brand and the design brief. Sustainability perspectives and trend analysis are central elements. The process includes research and product design studies, and the student develops all the prototypes themselves.
Several of the collaboration companies have a strong focus on sustainability aspects; Remake, Rave Review and Asket. For Asket, the agreement is that 60 percentage of the collection will be remakes of Asket's own garments.
Another group of companies with lifestyle brands are Arket, & Other Stories and Weekday. The student will create an entire collection, from which a line-up of 3-5 outfits is selected to be realized on a full scale.
About the collaboration
The collaboration part involves individual coaching from the assigned company and guest teachers. This feedback from the professionals is an appreciated part in the course. In the final part of the project, communication and display, the students learn the basics of concept development, branding and visual communication. This year's class has chosen to display at A house ARK, with a brutalism design concept that unites the building's architecture (1967-69, architects Gunnar Henriksson and John Olsson) with coherent aesthetics in scenography, styling, invitation design, lookbook, music and film.
The result is 13 collections with unique concepts that we present in two fashion shows on January 22 at A house ARK. We would like to express our gratitude to the brands and professionals in the industry for helping Beckmans new fashion designers to emerge on the scene. We would also like to thank guest teachers and partners who contribute to our education and the student's careers.
