FASHION

Fashion is one of the fastest changing artistic expressions. Therefore, education needs to be in constant interaction with the present, but also be the engine that drives the changes.

At Beckmans, implementation is central. Our courses are about the whole process, from inspiration and research to finished garments, ready to be presented at a fashion show. Unique to Beckmans are also our collaborations. We see them as a method in practice-based studies. It creates unique learning opportunities for the student to be close to reality or the industry in which the designer will then work. Collaborations are of course also about learning to work together and support each other's development.

Sustainability and creativity go hand in hand, which is why tomorrow's designers play an important role, whether after the training they choose to start their own brand based on sustainability principles, study further at the most prestigious master's programmes or start as a designer at a French fashion house. The future of fashion design will be about developing strategies to change consumption patterns, but also about how we view clothing. Our students' task will be to change, inspire and educate. This year's degree projects are excellent examples of this. Several works are precisely about seeing things in new and more nuanced ways, it can apply to body ideals as well as identity issues or the fashion concept. Others touch the scars each person carries with them through life. It's all about changing our future.
