Degree project in exhibition at Svenskt Tenn

It started with a 2500 meter long armchair - woven from one material, a 12 mm thick shoelace, and one tool. Now the chair has siblings.

A degree project from Product design

Svea Tisell developed the armchair as her graduation project from the Design Program in May 2024. She used the three-dimensional weaving technique multiwave to create an entire piece of furniture from a continuous thread.

The project explores the dynamics of the encounter between man and object, and whether textiles can take product design and support a body without the support of other materials. The armchair shows a vision that redefines manufacturing methods for upholstered furniture through experimentation with different materials and forms.

Exhibition October 3-13

For the exhibition, Svea Tisell has continued to explore technology to create new and unexpected furniture. See the armchair and its siblings Åttan, Sexton and Robban in an exhibition at Svenskt Tenn in Stockholm from October 3-13.
