Couture Black - a Fashion Performance at Sven-Harrys

Beckmans Swedish, fashion

An interpretation of couture by Beckman's fashion students is shown in a choreographed display in the middle of the exhibition The Secrets of Couturen at Sven-Harry's Art Museum.

Couture's craft tradition clarified in black forms

Under the guidance of Pär Engsheden, fashion designer and head of the Fashion Program, eleven fashion students have been working on expressing contemporary ideas through advanced forms and craft techniques. The students have explored how black materials can clarify product design.

-"By working monochrome in black fabric, the students have focused on exploring product design and silhouette - finding their own expressions in design," says Pär Engsheden.

The Couture course is conducted for the third year in a row and provides an increased understanding of a more advanced and creative fashion design while providing insight into how traditional craftsmanship can be combined with future requirements for sustainability and material renewal.

Events at auktionsverket

In addition to the fashion show, the students also invite you to a presentation and mini-exhibition of the project at Stockholms Auktionsverk on March 21.
