Close-Up, a fashion show at Beckmans
November 29, 2018
Material experiments & textile techniques
The collections have emerged during an eight-week course in which students have conducted several workshops focusing on material experimentation and various textile techniques: dyeing and patination, flock printing, shibori, bead embroidery, plush and feather work, hand and machine embroidery and weaving.
-One of the challenges for an aspiring fashion designer is to find their own voice. And daring to take turns and surprise yourself through material experiments is an important part of finding your own "signature". The material show is a fun performance where fashion is allowed to touch art and be conceptual, just as it should be when studying Fashion at Beckman College of Design, says Rector Karina Ericsson Wärn.
