Close-Up, en modevisning på Beckmans

Beckmans fashion, materials

Materiality is the theme when the second-year students at the Fashion Program show their debut collections on November 29.

Material experiments & textile techniques

The collections have emerged during an eight-week course in which students have conducted several workshops focusing on material experimentation and various textile techniques: dyeing and patination, flock printing, shibori, bead embroidery, plush and feather work, hand and machine embroidery and weaving.

-"One of the challenges for an aspiring fashion designer is to find their own voice. And daring to go out on a limb and surprise yourself through material experimentation is an important part of finding your own "signature". The material show is a fun-filled performance where fashion is allowed to touch on art and be conceptual, just as it should be when studying fashion at Beckmans School of Design, says Vice-Chancellor Karina Ericsson Wärn.
