Beckmansalumn to the final of the H&M Design Award
He is one of ten finalists competing against recent fashion designers from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Central Saint Martins in London, Parsons School of Design in New York, Aalto University in Helsinki, Shenkar in Tel Aviv and Weißensee Kunsthochschule in Berlin.
A tug-of-war between reason and heart
Hans examenkollektion från Beckmans “Mitt inres röst” har tidigare tilldelats stipendier från både Lindex och H&M och representerar en dragkamp mellan förnuft och hjärta.
"All my adult life, I've been torn between two worlds. The conventional, expected. It's hidden hidden deep within me. This collection depicts that tug-of-war. It shows a longing for a creative life, a longing no one knew about. It sums up my inner journey to this day.
The collection is based on the history of the costume and the business world's dress codes where the suit can be a protective shell. It explores what happens when the shell breaks and wild, inner dreams burst forth and devastate laid-out career plans. Load-bearing design elements are ruffles and flower prints.
