Glass scholarship of the year awarded by Svenskt Tenn
Justification of the grant
"With historical inspiration, we think that you, Linnea, have managed to create a series of egg cups, or maybe it's salt cellars... that feel both classic and contemporary. We think that taking on what is perhaps the smallest product on a table and creating something new and innovative should be rewarded. We would like to see what 'Öff' will look like when you have worked with them in the workshop," writes Svenskt Tenn in its motivation.
Glass course in collaboration with Svenskt Tenn
In the annual course "The Assignment", second-year students at Beckmans College of Design's design program have the opportunity to explore glass based on a brief from Svenskt Tenn. According to the brief, the students are to create a product or product series on the theme "The set table". This year's course ended with a vernissage at House of Bolon, where scholarships and honorable mentions were awarded by Thommy Bindefeld, Creative Advisor, and Ebba von Blixen, Product Manager, at Svenskt Tenn.
Two honorable mentions
One of this year's two honorable mentions went to Rosanna Rydholm for her vase "Manta".
"We think your vase 'Manta', especially the rounder one, has an interesting product design and it has been exciting to follow your process and see how the shape has evolved from your original more fish-fin productproduct design to a beautiful and functional vase. We think the Manta vase is on its way and that you should continue to work with it to take the shape further," writes Svenskt Tenn.
Swedish Tenn's second honorable mention went to Emma Bjelke Blomqvist for her plate "Årsringar"
"We see that 'Annuals' has a great idea and potential to become a commercial product. The plate can grow and become a barrel, it can be developed and made in color. With a little more work and testing, 'Annuals' could become something in the future," they write.
