EU Cotton collaborates with Beckmans to spotlight sustainable fashion in Stockholm

As part of the EU-funded promotional campaign EU Cotton – European Sustainable Cotton, a strategic collaboration was launched with Beckmans College of Design.

Seminar and workshop at Stockholm Fashion District

The partnership culminated on February 3, 2026, at Stockholm Fashion District, where a seminar and hands-on workshop brought together EU Cotton speakers and fashion students for an engaging exchange on the future of fashion. The discussions centered on sustainability, supply chain transparency, and the pivotal role emerging designers play in shaping a more responsible and environmentally conscious industry.

Fabrics made from European Sustainable Cotton in collaboration collections

In preparation for the event, fabrics made from European Sustainable Cotton were provided to eight students to help them create their thematic collection, developed as part of their project, “50/Fifty”: a collaboration between graduating BA Fashion students and five Swedish fashion brands: Brixtol Textiles, HJRT, Holebrook, House of Dagmar, and Stylein. Each collection reflects a balance between industry and individuality: 50% of the brand’s values and aesthetic, and 50% of the student’s own creative expression.

Julia Broscheit awarded first prize for outstanding design and wearability

The collections were unveiled during a fashion show also organized in collaboration with Stockholm Fashion District and EU Cotton, where Julia Broscheit’s collection was awarded the First Prize for its outstanding design and wearability.

The seminar and workshop that followed the show welcomed more than 50 students from Beckmans College of Design and the Academy for Tailoring and Cutting, fostering a vibrant and forward-looking dialogue within the Nordic fashion community.

About the EU Cotton initiative

The EU Cotton initiative is a three-year promotional campaign targeting Denmark, Sweden, and Finland, with the aim of strengthening awareness and positioning of European Sustainable Cotton in the Nordic fashion market. The cotton is exclusively cultivated in Greece, the only EU country with large-scale cotton production, by members of the Inter-Branch Organization of Greek Cotton (DOV).
