VEMOD
This collection explores vemod, a distinct sense of melancholy found in Nordic culture.
It is a quiet, bittersweet longing – a gentle, reflective sorrow – made tangible through textile and form. The works give physical shape to the intangible, evoking the feeling of missing something that’s gone, sensing the passage of time, and quietly accepting that everything in life changes.
The project investigates vemod as both an emotional and aesthetic experience. Through different material manipulations, the collection reflects a sense of slow fading or change, showing how time leaves its mark. It combines sustainability with emotional value by honoring traces of memory – of what was, what could have been, and what still remains.
