Tangled Revival
Prepared for the winds of change, I stand ready to mend what is broken. Like a Phoenix, I am reborn, embracing a new guise for life’s transitions. Life itself is peaks and valleys, like a temperamental knitting machine, with yarns that are both soft and hard. Through these fibers, light seeps through, even when I encounter holes in my walls—gaps I can mend and grow stronger from. Life is like a fragile thread, but also a resilient string, suspended in the unknown.
With the massive, opaque, and hanging materials, I seek to convey the impression that knowledge and practice carry weight, and that a few holes here and there don’t matter in the grand scheme of things. The journey continues at its own pace. In the muted tones, light sporadically emerges, even more clearly in certain moments. The large, voluminous silhouettes depict both clarity and determination. My curiosity for contrasts seems to have only just begun. Seriousness meets playfulness, the soft Shetland yarn skillfully contrasts with the sharp tips of screws, and the delicate threadwork harmonizes with the robust, oversized denim fabric.
I have cut strips and joined pieces together. With thin, interconnected threads, everything holds together. A process of creating the true life of humanity by shading away its artificial smooth surface. A tangled embroidery that reveals itself with curiosity. And if one is not vigilant, everything loops over and over and over again.
