Höghushalm

A tribute to Swedish domestic art. With this basket i wanted too see how traditional craftsmanship would look in in a contemporary and urban context. Instead of using sticks and twigs sourced from the forest, the basket is weaved using polyester rope and crocheted bricklayer yarn – materials sourced from the hardware store. Female-coded craftsmanship is mixed with male-coded materials to question norms about gender roles. Can be fully unweaved and return into 60 m rope.

Made with polyster rope, thread & stainless steel nuts.
