PRIMAVERA

For my workI I drew inspiration from Botticelli’s painting, Birth of Venus. The collection will show a romantic mood where colours and objects are taken from Botticelli’s painting. My intention with the collection is to show how the romance of nature and spring is like it were a dream, where spring is a symbol of rebirth. With sheer, almost transparent fabrics, the human body is implied, just nudity in Botticelli’s painting shows a divine beauty rather than arousing desire. The roses blowing over Venus, symbolizes love, trust and life. The draping imitates flowers falling from the sky as a reminder of spring. The pearls in crochet embodies the human body. A maxi skirt filled with sea mussel shells and pearls carries the meaning of love and fertility. Venus almost becoming a part of the fragile shell, embodies beauty and grace, connoting majesty and strength.
