Lisa Ehlin

Edit

Lisa Ehlin has a broad background in both theory and practice. She holds a PhD in Fashion Studies from Stockholm University and is affiliated with a graduate school in cultural history studies. She is a frequently hired lecturer and moderator, mainly in cultural contexts, and often talks about pop culture on radio and TV.

Her thesis "Becoming Image: Perspectives on Digital Culture, Fashion and Technofeminism" focused on the internet, visual culture, image culture, norm criticism and media history. During and after her dissertation in 2015, she has also worked as a cultural writer and editor, including for the books En annan historia and Arkivism together with Lina Thomsgård, Stockholms Kvinnohistoriska and Volante förlag. She has also worked on various research projects on digitalism, memory and archives (Collecting Social Photography) and international "Reminder Project" (EU and Oxford University among others).

-I believe my breadth in both theory and cultural life can create many and innovative points of contact for conversation. I want to be able to contribute keys of thought to each student's specific projects and areas of interest, and I hope to use my research to give them everything they need to learn to see and critically reflect. Being a visual communicator today means understanding how much is moving around references, perspectives, senders and receivers, past and future at the same time. There is nothing more fun and inspiring than seeing the world and yourself in new ways. If the students get some of that, I have done a good job.
