Erasmus+ takes you abroad
As a student at Beckmans College of Design, you can apply for funding for international study and other opportunities within the Erasmus+ programme.
If you wish to undertake an Erasmus+ traineeship after graduation, you must apply and be selected for the mobility while you are still a student at Beckmans. The traineeship must be completed within 12 months of graduation.
The Erasmus+ grant is a contribution towards the additional costs of staying abroad and is not intended to cover all your expenses.
How long can the traineeship be?
There are two options:
Long-term mobility: 2–12 months of physical mobility.
Short-term blended mobility: 5–30 days of physical mobility combined with a compulsory virtual component involving organised online learning and collaboration.
You may participate in more than one Erasmus+ mobility during your studies. The total period of physical Erasmus+ mobility may not exceed 12 months per study cycle. Previous Erasmus+ study and traineeship periods count towards these 12 months.
How to apply – step by step
1. Submit an expression of interest
Contact External Relations as early as possible and no later than three months before you plan to start your traineeship.
Write Erasmus in the subject line.
Erasmus+ funding cannot be applied for retrospectively.
2. Find a traineeship
You are responsible for finding and contacting a company or organisation where you would like to undertake your traineeship.

You can also search for traineeship opportunities through ErasmusIntern.org.
Once a company or organisation has agreed to host you, let them know that you will be applying for Erasmus+ funding through Beckmans.
If you are unsure whether the destination or host organisation is eligible for Erasmus+, contact External Relations before proceeding.
3. Apply for an Erasmus+ grant
Once you have found a traineeship, submit your application for Erasmus+ funding to Beckmans.
Beckmans will assess your application and let you know whether your mobility has been approved.
4. Complete your Learning Agreement
Before the traineeship begins, you, Beckmans and your host organisation must agree on the content and learning objectives of your traineeship in a Learning Agreement for Traineeships.
The agreement is completed and signed digitally through OLA (Online Learning Agreement) and must be approved by all three parties before the traineeship begins.

5. Sign your Grant Agreement
Once your Erasmus+ mobility has been approved, a Grant Agreement is drawn up between you and Beckmans.
The agreement specifies the amount of your grant, the conditions for payment and your obligations as an Erasmus+ participant.
6. Complete the OLS language assessment
For an Erasmus+ mobility lasting 14 days or more, you will normally need to complete a language assessment in the main language you will use during your traineeship.
The assessment is free and is provided through Online Language Support (OLS) in the EU Academy. Native speakers are exempt.
After your traineeship, you may voluntarily take another assessment to see how your language skills have developed.

7. Check your insurance
You must have valid insurance cover for the entire traineeship period. Erasmus+ traineeships require, among other things, accident and liability insurance.
The insurance arrangements may differ depending on whether you undertake your traineeship while enrolled at Beckmans or after graduation.
You will receive information about the insurance that applies to you as part of the application process.
Erasmus+ grant
The amount of your grant depends, among other things, on your destination and the duration of your traineeship.
You will receive 90% of the grant before departure. The remaining 10% is paid after you have completed your traineeship, submitted the required documentation and completed the mandatory reporting.
The Erasmus+ grant is a contribution towards the additional costs associated with your stay abroad and is not intended to cover all expenses.
After your traineeship
After completing your traineeship, you must:
- complete the mandatory Erasmus+ participant report
- make sure your host organisation confirms the completed traineeship by issuing a Traineeship Certificate
- submit the documents required by Beckmans to complete your mobility.
Once these requirements have been fulfilled, the remaining 10% of your grant will be paid.
