Applications are open once a year in spring, for entry in the autumn.

Portfolio tasks are an essential part of the application process. We are looking for students who think creatively. Your submitted work gives us an understanding of how you approach assignments and provides insight into your potential for growth.

We want to see that you are ready to prepare for the varied challenges a designer faces. You should demonstrate the passion, capability, and dedication needed to work independently and make the most of your education. By the time you graduate, our goal is for you to actively contribute to shaping and advancing the field of design!

All portfolio tasks must be uploaded digitally through Beckmans' application portal.

No. For application to the college's degree programmes, you must also meet the general entry requirements. If you do not meet the general entry requirements, you can request an assessment of prior learning. The Bachelor's programme in Fashion (180 credits) also requires specific entry requirements. The selection process for applicants takes place during June.

In the first round, a panel consisting of teachers and student representatives evaluates your portfolio tasks. In the second round, selected applicants are called for an interview. If a program accepts 12 applicants, we invite twice as many to an interview. The interview is conducted by teachers from the program you applied to.

When evaluating the portfolio tasks, we look at:

idea development

ability to visualize your ideas

artistic and creative standard

Notification of acceptance will be sent out via email by the end of June at the latest.

Beckmans is located in a 1912 industrial building at Agavägen 54 on Lidingö, Stockholm. Take the metro to Ropsten, then the Lidingöbanan light rail to AGA station. You can also take the SL80 ferry to the Dalénum dock.

We host an Open House in February. Students show their application portfolios, and teachers present the programs. All workshops and studios are open. Follow us on Instagram to see what we're up to and stay updated on dates!

The college is tuition-free and eligible for CSN student support. Education at the college is also tuition-free for citizens of countries within the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. This means you do not pay any tuition fees, but you cover the cost of required course materials yourself. Material costs vary from semester to semester and depend on your program.

Beckmans Evening School is a one-year preparatory program focusing on Visual Communication, Product Design, or Fashion. The course runs two evenings per week and charges a tuition fee. A scholarship is available to apply for at designstipendiet.se

The fee for the Evening School is SEK 37,000 for the full program (one academic year). The tuition fee must be paid before the start of the course. The preparatory programs are not eligible for CSN student support. In partnership with Svea Bank, you have the option to split your payment into 6 or 12 monthly installments. You can also extend the payment plan over a longer period, but interest will apply.

Beckmans Evening School starts in August/September every year. Classes run from September to May, following the standard academic calendar.

Applications typically open in January and close in May.

Applicants to Beckmans Evening School may apply for financial funding through the Design Scholarship (Designstipendiet). Founded by the Robert Weil Family Foundation, the scholarship fully covers the Evening School tuition fees. All individuals who have submitted a formal application to Beckmans Evening School are eligible to apply. Please submit your scholarship application here.

Many of our students attend a foundation course at a folk high school or independent art school before joining us, while others come from Beckmans Evening School. Choose a path based on the specific skills you want to develop.

Product Design 180 hp: Nyckelviksskolan, Stenebyskolan, Fidu i Hällefors, Leksands folkhögskola, Konstskolan i Stockholm, BASIS, Grimslövs folkhögskola, Ölands folkhögskola, Capellagården, Lunds Konst/Designskola, Österlenskolan.

Fashion 180 hp: Tillskärarakademin, Modeskolan, Axevalla folkhögskola, Gamleby Folkhögskola, Mora Folkhögskola, Stenebyskolan, Lunds Konst/Designskola, Textilakademin Värnamo, Österlenskolan, Textilskolen.

Visual Communication 180 hp: Broby Grafiska, Nackademin, Nyckelviksskolan, Östra Grevie, Folkuniversitetet, Göteborgs konstskola, Medieskolan, Lunds Konst/Designskola, Österlenskolan.

Tuition fees must be paid directly to Beckmans College of Design. Tuition fees are set in Swedish kronor (SEK). The fee, which is paid on a per-semester basis, must be settled before the student begins or continues their studies at Beckmans.

Beckmans Tuition Fees for non-EU/EEA Students

Bachelor's Programs, 180 ECTS (3 years):

However, certain exceptions to the application and/or tuition fee requirement exist. For example, for individuals who:

hold a permanent residence permit in Sweden.

hold a temporary residence permit in Sweden for reasons other than studies.

are a family member of an EU/EEA or Swiss citizen and have a right of residence or permanent right of residence in Sweden.

have long-term resident status in Sweden.

have long-term resident status in another EU/EEA country and hold a residence permit in Sweden.

are enrolled as a student at a foreign university but are completing a limited part of their education at a Swedish university under an exchange agreement where tuition fees are not charged by the host institution.

An exemption from the application fee may be granted if the applicant can prove active enrollment in a program at a Swedish university at the time of application.

The study programmes require proficiency in Swedish. Applicants who are not native Swedish speakers and do not have a qualification in Swedish 1–3 may take the TISUS test, which is recognised by all Swedish universities as proof of eligibility in Swedish language proficiency. Application and tuition fees apply to undergraduate applicants who are not citizens of an EU or EEA country or Switzerland.

Tuition fees are paid directly to Beckmans School of Design. Tuition fees are set in Swedish kronor and must be paid each semester before the student begins or continues their studies at Beckmans.

There are some exceptions to the requirement to pay registration and/or tuition fees, such as for those who:• have permanent residency in Sweden• have temporary residency in Sweden for reasons other than studies• are family members of a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland and have the right of residence or permanent residency in Sweden• have a permanent residence status in Sweden• have a permanent residence status in another EU/EEA country and have a residency permit in Sweden• are students at a foreign university but are completing a limited part of their education at a Swedish university within the framework of an exchange agreement that exempts them from paying tuition fees to the receiving Swedish university

Exceptions to the registration fee may be granted if the applicant can prove registration at a Swedish university at the time of application.
