two evenings a week

Our one-year foundation programme in Visual Communication introduces you to key areas including graphic design, typography, illustration and motion design. It prepares you to apply for higher education in design, but is equally suited to those looking to take the next step in their career, develop new skills or change direction in their current work. Our aim is to help you develop and strengthen your understanding of visual communication and find your own creative voice.

Teaching takes the form of lectures and workshops two evenings a week. In addition to scheduled classes, you will need to work independently to complete assignments and projects. The course is taught by practising professionals in visual communication.

The programme’s main subject, Visual Communication, includes:

  • illustration
  • photography
  • typography
  • strategic communication
  • graphic design
  • moving image
  • interactive media
  • packaging design

Tuition fees and scholarships

The tuition fee is SEK 37,000 and must be paid before the course begins. The preparatory programmes are not eligible for financial aid from CSN. Through our partnership with Svea Bank, you can spread the cost over 6 or 12 months. Longer payment plans are also available, but interest will apply. Read more about how it works here.


Since 2019, the Design Scholarship has been available to students wishing to attend Beckmans Evening School. Established by the Robert Weil Family Foundation, the scholarship covers the tuition fee and is open to anyone who has submitted an application to Beckmans Evening School.
