STENEN was a study of the interaction between technology and forest. Using close up images of a stone in the forest, we got the AI program DALL E 2 to generate new images based on what it experienced. We stitched those images together into a new material and printed on the material Vepa polyweave where we later made a stone next to the physical stone in the forest. In this way, we were now able to produce the stone via technology. At the same time, we took the pixels in the AI-generated material and turned it into sound waves, so that you could experience the sound of the stone when you stood close to it.
The finished work was exhibited at Skogssalongen, 2022
