Works of Essence

Beckmans

Works of Essence is the result of a brand new and unique collaborative project between Beckman College of Design and the perfumery school ISIPCA in Paris.

In seven groups, the design and perfume students have developed seven innovative projects, where scents and visual expressions interact. The project has been structured as an interdisciplinary dialogue, where the students have sent sketches in product design of scent samples and visual material between them, in an exploration of how scent and design can interact in asking questions, solving problems, conveying messages and expressing ideas.

Works of Essence will first be presented at La Fabrique in Paris in collaboration with the perfumery school ISIPCA, and then dismantled and displayed again during Stockholm Design Week. The exhibition runs between 9-10 February at A house Ark – a destination for food, fashion, music and media in Stockholm. Since 2021, Beckman's student union and A house have had an ongoing collaboration, initiated through Wasim Harwill, Felicia Granath and Moa Forsberg, who invite the students to Beckman College of Design as future professionals to take part in A house destinations for the community, use of space and satellite activations.

About A house

A house curates and brings destinations to life for creators. We are located in two locations in Stockholm: in the old School of Architecture in Östermalm, where we niche ourselves towards food, fashion, music and media – and at Filmhuset at Gärdet, which is niched towards film and moving images. A third destination based in Gothenburg is expected to open in 2025.

In addition to event venues and workplaces, A house Ark also houses the concept café MR Cake, the ramen restaurant Tengu and the brewery and restaurant OMAKA. The latter two are excellent to continue the evening at when the opening is over.
