Nobel Creations

In order to recognize and honor the 2020 Nobel Laureates and their discoveries, fashion students at Beckmans College of Design have created free interpretations of this year's Nobel Prize. Based on black holes, gene scissors, auction theory, and hepatitis C disease, as well as from the World Food Programme's work to eradicate hunger and Louise Glück's poetry, the students have created six strong fashion figures exhibited at the Nobel Prize Museum.

About the Nobel Creations project

Since 2011, the fashion program at Beckmans College of Design has annually created free interpretations of the Nobel Prizes. The creations explore what unites Nobel Laureates, artists and creators: creativity – the courage to think in new ways, to dare to question established theories and innovative combinations of insights from different fields.

In 2019, the project was carried out as a collaboration with Minister of Culture Amanda Lind, who also carried one of the creations at the Nobel Banquet. The year before (2018), the project was a creative meeting between literature and fashion when works by six female Nobel Laureates in Literature were interpreted and Professor Sara Danius was one of the supervisors in the project. In other years, we have exhibited the creations in different contexts both in Sweden and internationally.

Here we have collected fashion creations created in the project over the years.
