Fashion students show collections at Baron
12 February 2018
Cooperation where two worlds meet
-"Working with Baron has been a lot of fun but also very challenging as I have strived throughout the process to create a stylish balance between my world and Baron's. The collection alludes to the concept of the green screen, as it depicts a meeting of two worlds that flow together in a story. Shapes and silhouettes are developed by exploring the traditionally worn costume that has been rebuilt through deconstruction," Marie explains.
Dat Danh's interpretation of the brand, the Inception collection, is also a meeting of two worlds; manor and country life meeting streetwear.
-"I like to work with contrasts, so I thought it was a good idea and fun to draw inspiration from the historical and royal. I had a completely different kind of upbringing, in a deprived area of Malmö where everything was about streetwear and what it stood for. So I wanted to work with these two eras, worlds that meet in real life but really only exist in dreams," says Dat.
Marie and Dat worked throughout the autumn on their collections, which were then premiered at Fashion Week in January. Both are very happy with the collaboration, because of the genuine interest they met from supervisors at Baron but also because of the new challenges they faced in the collaboration.
-"I'm very grateful that I was awarded Baron because it gave me new challenges, new materials, new techniques and new garment types that I wouldn't otherwise have sketched out," says Dat, who also had time to show her collection in the Designers' Nest competition at Copenhagen Fashion Week.
-If I had the chance to redo a collaboration with Baron, I would have done it again without a doubt! says Marie.
Exhibition in Baron's shop
From 12-18 February, their collections will be on display in Baron's shop at Humlegårdsgatan 19.
-There will be an event on Thursday with bubbles and mingling between 17:00-19:00, when I together with Dat will be there, everyone is welcome!
