Lecturer praised for book design

Beckmans staff, Swedish, visual communication

Stefania Malmsten, senior lecturer at the visual communication programme, is one of the winners of Svensk Bokkonst 2017.

When Svensk Bokkonst named the best-designed books published last year, the exhibition catalogue on artist Gunnel Wåhlstrand for Magasin III was one of them. The book was designed by Beckman lecturer Stefania Malmsten together with Ulrika Hellberg, the other half of the Malmsten-Hellberg duo.

Jury's motivation

"A cover that feels both comfortable and slightly uncomfortable in the hand is the obvious choice for this well-crafted exhibition catalogue. Sensitive colour choices where everything harmonises in the tone of the images, the cover and the typography. Excellent repro and printing. Large format with beautiful placement of the images. Included smaller format appendices on uncoated paper effectively move the focus to the text."
