Beckmans students present eight visions for the future of Lidingö
Graffiti park, art along the Lidingöbanan or a designed island group with bridges connecting the strait between Gåshaga and Elfvik?
Students from the Visual Communication and product design programs have worked together to create a vision for the future of the island, which will also be home to Beckman College of Design from 2022.
Among the proposals we find a bicycle bar that invites passers-by to stop for a while, an abandoned tower and rock room that becomes a new meeting place for Lidingö's art and design schools, a portable greenhouse that requires Lidingö residents to work together to keep the plants alive, a designed island group with bridges that connect the strait between Gåshaga and Elfvik, a new cultural center with workshops for artistic creation for all residents of the island, a graffiti park in the abandoned Tindrahuset that becomes a living gallery in constant change, a site-built fountain in front of the current City Hall that creates a more inviting place and not least a proposal for art along the Lidingöbanan where Stockholm's subway has served as a model.
