How important is cultural and economic capital for success? Who gets in and what does it take to feel welcome in the design profession?
During my journey into the design industry, I have reflected on why my classmates, teachers and colleagues have been so similar to me. Mostly white, middle and upper class people. Who becomes a designer and who doesn't? These are questions that form the basis of my work. I approach them with a hopeful spirit.
Graphic Design is a virtual tool and game where the user discovers a vast amount of knowledge related to the profession. Graphic Design aims to inspire and make the profession visible to those who do not already know about it. The work is based on Kerstin Sylwan's book Reshaping - New Structures for the Design Industry, which presents the selection process of the "funnel metaphor".
